India’s Prestigious Domestic Tournament Ranji Trophy is all set to commence on 13th December (Tuesday). Ranji Trophy is considered to be the stepping stone for getting into the national team. Madhya Pradesh Cricket had won the previous season against which they defeated Mumbai Cricket Team.

This season would be quite pivotal as India is going to face Australia in February. The youngsters would be keen to make an impact in the Ranji Trophy. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane & Ishant Sharma would be roaring to make a comeback to the national side after being ignored for Bangladesh Test Series.

Chetan Sharma led selection panel To Watch Ranji Matches

The old selection panel is still in action. Chairman Chetan Sharma is all set to watch Punjab’s match against Chandigarh in Mohali. Sunil Joshi will be in Pune for Maharashtra versus Delhi match. Harvinder Singh is going to be in Hyderabad for Hyderabad’s match against Tamil Nadu. Debasis Mohanty will be in Kolkata for the Bengal-Uttar Pradesh game.

Crucial Phase for India

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) would be well aware of the fact that they have to select the next panel carefully. India hasn’t won an ICC tournament since 2013. The interviews for the candidates have not been finalized yet and it is expected that the interviews would take place during the second round of Ranji matches.

The newly appointed BCCI President Roger Binny has a strenuous task on his hands as managing the workload of players would be tough. India is set to play a lot of cricket the in the next 3 months where there is Border- Gavaskar Trophy 2023 and that series would most likely decide the fate of India in WTC 2021-23.
