England announce ODI & T20I squads for Bangladesh tour; Mark Wood, Saqib Mahmood return

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Thursday, announced their men’s T20I and ODI squads for the forthcoming tour of Bangladesh, starting March 1.

Fast bowling duo of Mark Wood and Saqib Mehmood have made their comeback in the English outfit. Notably, Wood was rested for the recently-concluded ODI tour of South Africa, which the visitors lost 2-1. Similarly, Saqib has been out of the team since May last year with a stress fracture.

Further, Somerset captain Tom Abell and Leicestershire leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed have been named both ODI and T20I squads. This is going to be Abell’s first time with a full England squad, while Rehan made his England debut in the Karachi Test against Pakistan and even picked a seven-wicket haul.

England will first play three ODIs on March 1, 3 and 6 before battling against the hosts in the three T20Is on March 9, 12 and 14. All six games will be played across Dhaka and Chattogram.

“Uncapped Somerset batter Tom Abell, who is set to captain the England Lions in the upcoming ODI series in Sri Lanka, is included in both squads while Leicestershire leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed earns his first call-up to an England white-ball squad. Saqib Mahmood is selected to the ODI squad as he prepares to make his return to full international cricket following the back injury he suffered last May,” said ECB in their official statement.

England’s ODI squad against Bangladesh:

Jos Buttler (captain), Tom Abell, Rehan Ahmed, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Saqib Mahmood, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, James Vince, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood

England’s T20I squad against Bangladesh:

Jos Buttler (captain), Tom Abell, Rehan Ahmed, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood
