Hardik Pandya Should Have Bowled The 20th Over Instead Of Shivam Mavi- Wasim Jaffer

Cricket commentator Wasim Jaffer said that Hardik Pandya should have bowled the 20th over in IND vs SL 2nd T20I game. Jaffer said that Pandya has more experience than Mavi and should have bowled in the death overs.

India bowlers gave a poor bowling show in the death over during IND vs SL 2nd T20I. Sri Lanka shattered 59 runs in the last three overs to reach a mammoth total of 206-6. Umran Malik conceded 21 runs in the 18th over, Arshdeep Singh went for 18 runs in the 19th over, and Shivam Mavi was carted away for 20 runs in the 20th over.

Expected Hardik Pandya To Bowl Instead of Shivam Mavi in The Death: Wasim Jaffer

While speaking ESPNcricinfo about the match, Wasim Jaffer mentioned that he expected Hardik Pandya to bowl the final over instead of Shivam Mavi.

“I expected Hardik to bowl instead of Mavi in the death. Mavi hasn’t got a reputation of bowling well in the death. Hardik had that experience. I thought he would have bowled that 20th over. Also, just giving two overs to Arshdeep, Hardik got it wrong there.”

Jaffer also said that Pandya should have given Shivam Mavi the new ball as he gave a good performance in the 1st game. Mavi had picked 4 wickets in the IND vs SL 1st T20I.

“Since Shivam Mavi did so well in the first game, why didn’t he bowl with the new ball? You could probably give Arshdeep the third or fourth over. Still unacceptable what Arshdeep did. But I think Hardik should have trusted Mavi,” Jaffer further said.

Setting a target of 207 for India in the 2nd T20I, Sri Lanka restricted India to 190-8 to win the game by 16 runs. For India, Suryakumar Yadav (51) and Axar Patel (63) slammed incredible knocks. Earlier, Dasun Shanaka smacked 56 off 22 to take Sri Lanka to a gigantic total of 206-6.

India vs Sri Lanka T20I series is currently tied at 1-1. Earlier, India had won the 1st T20I by 2 runs. The IND vs SL 3rd T20I will take place on January 7 at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot.
