IND vs AUS: Shreyas Iyer Unlikely To Feature In 2nd Test Match Against Australia

Indian Cricket Team registered a resounding victory over Australia in the opening Test Match. Rohit Sharma’s brigadier looked as if they were on a mission from ball 1. The visitors were clueless against the spin duo of Ashwin & Jadeja who took 15 wickets out of 20 and bowled quite wicket to wicket. The duo didn’t panic even when Labuschagne & Smith looked dangerous in the 1st innings

Skipper Rohit Sharma silenced all the criticism after smashing a century on a tricky surface. The batter took his time and waited for loose deliveries. The management would be quite delighted as the resurgence of Rohit Sharma has meant that there would be no added pressure on the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara & Virat Kohli.

Shreyas Iyer doubtful for 2nd Test Match

According to reports, it looks unlikely that the Chetan Sharma-led selection panel would include Shreyas Iyer in the 2nd Test match. The batter had suffered a lower back injury and it is assumed that he isn’t 100% fit for the match. There are chances that the batter may feature in the Irani Cup match for Rest of India against Madhya Pradesh on 1st March – 5th march

Great Chance for India

If Shreyas Iyer doesn’t make the curt for 2nd Test match, then Suryakumar Yadav would get another chance to showcase his skills. Suryakumar was getting into the groove but Australia’s shrewd spinner Nathan Lyon outclassed him. Perhaps, Suryakumar should be a bit more careful as it is often said Test Cricket is a game of patience.

Australian Head Coach Andrew McDonald needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat as the batting unit had got into a shell by playing defensive cricket. The Aussies need to bring their “A” game and make sure that they are toiling the bowlers and should take the match session by session.
