India beat Bangladesh by 227 runs in the third and final ODI of the three-match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday, December 10. Former Indian cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi believes Ishan Kishan’s incredible double century has made it almost impossible for the selectors to overlook this magnificent performance.
Ishan Kishan is one of the young players in India who has not had many opportunities to play for the national team, but his batting style has not changed. He replaced Rohit Sharma, who was injured, in the playing eleven in the third ODI. The 24-year-old took full advantage of this as he smashed a brilliant double century of 210 off 131 balls, including 24 fours and 10 sixes.

Ishan Kishan Is Probably Not Doing Justice To His Potential – Reetinder Singh Sodhi
Speaking to India News after the game, Sodhi said Ishan Kishan’s knock against Bangladesh was “unbelievable” and will be remembered for years to come. Sodhi believes that Kishan has a range of explosive shots, like Suryakumar Yadav.

“We were thinking that Ishan Kishan is a young talent who is probably not doing justice to his potential. However, the knock that he has played has been unbelievable and will be remembered for years to come. Ye lambi race ka ghoda hai (he is here for the long haul) and has a range of explosive shots just like Suryakumar Yadav.”
ICC Trophy May Not Be Too Far Away – Reetinder Singh Sodhi
India secured a consolation victory by bowling out Bangladesh for 182 runs, their biggest ODI win in terms of runs against a Test-playing side. The Men in Blue have already lost the series 2-0 and were dealing with several injuries.
Sodhi was impressed with India’s clinical performance and positive body language on the field. He said that based on the way they worked together as a team and the way they played today, the ICC title may not be far away.

“There was a lot of talk about how they would react in the third ODI after a 2-0 hammering and a series loss. However, the way they stuck together as a team and performed today, it seems like the elusive ICC trophy may not be too far away.”
India will take on Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on December 14. The visitors will try to carry the momentum from their massive win into the crucial Test series. With a Test series win, they will try to reach the World Test Championship final.
