Bangladesh Cricket Team showed a lot of grit and determination in the 1st Test Match. The Bangladeshi Tigers may have lost the Test Match by 188 runs but they toiled the Indian bowlers a lot. The Men in Blue did the mistake of taking Bangladesh lightly after their 1st innings debacle.

Skipper KL Rahul was quite spot-on with his captaincy as his field placings made life harder for batters. The way he used Kuldeep & Axar proved to be decisive. Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers where he took 4 wickets and gave away 77 runs in his spell of 32.2 overs.

Sanjay Manjrekar on Cheteshwar Pujara

Sanjay Manjrekar was having an interaction with Sony Sports and was asked about Cheteshwar Pujara. “It’s Cheteshwar Pujara, that’s how he is. Come what may, whatever the odds are, he will go out and give his very best. Indian Test batting still needs Pujara. They had to call him back, after he was not picked for the home series (against Sri Lanka), they had to call him back for that one-off Test.” said Sanjay Manjrekar.

“So this was again a reminder that Indian cricket has not reached that stage where they can dispense with somebody like Pujara. They need that Pujara glue to hold the innings together.” he added.

Delight for India

The management would be happy that the batters have started to peak at the right time. The way Shubman Gill & Cheteshwar Pujara struck centuries, that would give them immense confidence ahead of the 2nd Test match. It is assumed that the pitch in Dhaka would be lot competitive.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid has a tough task on hands as which player to drop, Gill looked in sublime touch whereas KL Rahul once again is looking in two minds whether to attack or defend. We have seen many often times in Indian Cricket that a centurion is dropped and it won’t be a surprise if Shubman Gill is dropped.
