“It Was Disappointing”- Mitchell Santner After Losing The 3rd T20I Match Against India

[ad_1]

New Zealand Cricket Team would be crestfallen after losing the 3rd T20I match by 168 runs where they were outplayed. The Black Caps showed no intent while chasing  235 runs on a batting track where there was hardly anything in it for the bowlers.

Shubman Gill would be booming with confidence as now the batter has a century across all the 3 formats of the game. The batter silenced all the critics who were questioning his place in the team. The batter struck a gigantic century where he scored 126 runs in 63 balls as he struck 12 fours and 7 huge sixes.

New Zealand’s pace attack was exposed as the likes of Blair Tickner & Lockie Ferguson couldn’t make an impact in the power-play overs. There were huge hopes from Lockie Ferguson but the speedster had forgettable figures as he gave away 54 runs in 4 overs spell and was wicket-less.

Skipper Mitchell Santner made a mistake by not giving Michael Bracewell a second over even when he had taken a huge wicket of Ishan Kishan. Mitchell Santner too got whacked around the park and looked quite clueless against the Vintage Shubman Gill.

It was disappointing- Mitchell Santner

During post-match presentation, Mitchell Santner was asked about team’s performance. “It was disappointing. It would be nice to take the trophy but credit to India, they played outstanding. Some of their guys are in great nick at the moment. It is tough to win when you lose 5 in the powerplay. It can be challenging when the ball is swinging.” said Mitchell Santner.

There will be some dew around- Mitchell Santner

“If you look at the way India played, they took their time early on and when it got flat, they really had a go at us. (On the World Cup later this year)I guess that time of the year there will be some dew around, most teams might bowl first. We’ve seen some great wickets, if it is like that in October it will be a great World Cup to be part of and to learn. I think 320 would be the score we’d want to restrict teams to then.” he added.
