“Our Approach Was Not Exactly How It Was Before The World Cup”- Hardik Pandya

Sri Lankan Cricket Team is all set to clash against India for a 3 T20I match Series starting from 3rd January (Tuesday). Given a successful New Zealand T20I Series for Hardik Pandya, the selection panel has named him as the skipper as Rohit Sharma is not 100% fit.

Surprisingly, the dashing Suryakumar Yadav has been named the vice captain. The right-handed batter is in the form of his life where the batter has shown immense striking ability. He will have to bat more responsibly as the middle order looks a bit fragile.

Hardik Pandya on T20 WC 2022

Hardik Pandya was having an interaction with the media ahead of the 1st T20I match against Sri Lanka and was asked about T20 WC 2022. “Before World Cup, I don’t think we did anything wrong. Our template, approach, everything was the same. Yes, in the World Cup, things did not go the way we wanted. Our approach was not exactly how it was before the World Cup.” said Hardik Pandya.

“Yes, the biggest (New Year’s Resolution is) to win the World Cup. I don’t think any bigger resolution can be there. Really want to win the World Cup. We will try everything possible in our capacity to go out there and give everything. Things are looking bright. Let’s hope it is.” he added.

Concerns for Sri Lanka

The island nation undoubtedly has got a powerful batting line up but they need someone who could anchor the innings. Sri Lanka had a topsy-turvy 2022 T20 WC where they were beaten by Namibia in the opener but made a terrific comeback.

Head Coach Chris Silverwood would be well aware of the fact that they can’t take India lightly;  as this second string squad is quite a formidable one. The management should use Chamika Karunaratne as a floater as he is someone who could change the complexion of the match.
