As India grabbed full control of the second Test on Friday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Ravichandran Ashwin spun a web around Australia by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne and then catching Steve Smith for a duck in the same over.
Labuschagne was dismissed by Ashwin after being caught in front of the stumps, and a delivery later, Steve Smith’s outside edge caused him to return to the pavilion. Due to the rapid dismissals, Australia had three fewer batters when they returned after lunch, having scored 94 runs in their first 25 overs.

Australia got off to a good start thanks to Usman Khawaja and David Warner after Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat. Warner, though, failed once again as he lost to Mohammed Shami twice in the series.
Ravichandran Ashwin later tightened Australia’s grip. He first caught Marnus Labuschagne on the pads, but an LBW request was loudly rejected. Replays revealed that the ball would have hit middle and off, and Ashwin persuaded Rohit Sharma to choose the DRS. Two balls later, wicketkeeper KS Bharat completed a great catch as R Ashwin demonstrated why he is such a skilled bowler by bowling it slightly further outside the off-stump as Smith came forward to provide a narrow catch.

The biggest star for India in their dominance of home Test matches has been Ravichandran Ashwin:
The biggest star for India in their ten-year dominance of Tests at home has been Ravichandran Ashwin, the No. 2 all-rounder in Test cricket. Australia appeared much more confident on Friday than they did in Nagpur. Even as David Warner battled to find his form, Usman Khawaja appeared strong against pace and spin.
Before R Ashwin reclaimed control of the situation just before lunch, Marnus Labuschagne joined Khawaja at the crease, and the two players were forming a good connection.
The most prolific run-scorer on this Australian side is Steve Smith, and his replacement, Marnus Labuschagne, can be just as dangerous thanks to his passion and devotion to batting. Before Labuschagne stated that Smith’s impatience to bat rather than some shrewd practice maneuver was the cause, the two of them were actually seen batting at the nets together.
Steve Smith was standing in the locker room, rapping his helmet, and getting ready to bat as India reviewed the Marnus Labuschagne LBW call. But as it turned out, Ravichandran Ashwin had yet another masterplan ready to shock the Aussies, who were keen to strike back after the atrocities of the Nagpur Test, while the Indians were waiting for him.
