Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara & others react to Murali Vijay’s retirement from international cricket

Former India opener Murali Vijay announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket on Monday, January 30. Vijay, who played his first match for India in 2008, took to Twitter to share the news.

In his career, Vijay played 61 Test matches and amassed 3982 runs. The 38-year also represented the country in 17 ODIs and 9 T20Is but majorly excelled in the longest format and got the tag of India’s Test specialist.

The news of Vijay’s retirement attracted good luck wishes from former and active cricketers.

Notably, Vijay was also part of India’s Champions Trophy triumph in 2013, and most of the heartwarming tributes for him came from the fellow champion teammates.

Rohit Sharma congratulated the Tamil Nadu cricketer on a fabulous career and wished him luck in future endeavours.

“Monka well done on your career bro, had a great time watching you play some of your masterpieces, specially in Australia. Good luck ahead bro.”

Shikhar Dhawan wished Vijay a great future ahead.

“Congratulations on this new phase of your life bro. May all your hopes and plans come true @mvj888”

Former India all-rounder Suresh Raina cherished the beautiful memories with his fellow Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate and shared a video along with a heartwarming message.

“Great memories to cherish playing together! Congrats on your achievements for the country and CSK! Wishin you the best for the future ahead @mvj888”

Ravichandran Ashwin posted a picture with Vijay to wish him a happy retirement.

“Well done monk. @mvj888 Congratulations on a wonderful career and happy retirement”

Ishant Sharma lauded the former India opener and admired his technique in the congratulatory wish.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who has had many solid partnerships with Vijay, said it was a delight to play with him.

“Was a pleasure playing alongside you @mvj888 Congratulations on a fine career. Wishing you the best for all your future endeavours.”

Robin Uthappa wished the cricketer a bright future ahead as well.

Karun Nair penned a congratulatory message and a picture, saying it was an honour to play alongside him.
