Shreyas Iyer Ruled Out Of 1st Test Match Against Australia- Reports

[ad_1]

The highly anticipated India vs Australia Test Series is set to commence on 9th February. The mighty Aussies will have to play out of their skin as since the last decade India hasn’t lost a Test Series in India. This Test Series is expected to be a fascinating one as both teams are evenly matched.

The Men in Blue has their task cut out as they have to clinch the series by 3-1 or 3-0 to stake a claim in World Test Championship Cycle (WTC 2021-23) final. All eyes would be on skipper Rohit Sharma as this would be his first major Test Series.

Shreyas Iyer Unavailable for 1st Test

Shreyas Iyer was seen in NCA for rehabilitation due to a back injury where he didn’t play New Zealand ODIs. It is assumed that the BCCI Medical team has taken a precautionary step as rushing him back won’t be an ideal option. The batter is expected to join the squad for the 2nd Test Match for the Delhi match.

Great Chance for Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav could be handed the Test cap in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. Suryakumar in the 2nd T20I match against New Zealand showed immense mental application on a dangerous wicket. The batter at the No.5 position can be the surprise package as he has been scoring runs in the domestic circuit for quite some time.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be worried as Shreyas Iyer has been the backbone of the team. We all witnessed how he fared against Bangladesh in tricky scenarios. The management perhaps can use Suryakumar Yadav as a floater as a breezy knock can change the complexion of the match.
