South African Cricket Team’ All rounder Mignon du Preez has bid adieu to all forms of the game. The Cricketer’s career panned for more than 15 years as she was a vital cog in the Proteas camp.  She had played 269 International matches across all the formats of the game.

Recently South Africa failed to make a mark in the Commonwealth Games where they won 1 match in the group stage. The team has been going through a tough phase as they were comprehensively beaten by England in ODIs and T20Is.

Mignon Du Preez Announces Retirement

Mignon Du Preez took to her social media handle and announced his retirement. “Fifteen years of international cricket, wow, what a blessing it has been. It’s never an easy decision to step away from something you love as much as I love cricket, but I know in my heart that the time is right for me to announce my retirement from all forms of international cricket,” said Mignon du Preez.

Huge Loss for South Africa

The right-handed batter had scored 1,805 runs in her career with an average of 20.98. The batter could have guided the other players and we should not forget that South Africa has the home advantage for the tourney.

It would be interesting to see which batter replaces her as South Africa is currently going through a phase of reconstruction.  With the Women’s World Cup scheduled in February, the team doesn’t have enough time for preparation.  The Proteas is all set to play a tri-series before World Cup between India & West Indies which would be quite crucial.
