“They Are Looking At KL Rahul For World Cup. Whether It’s Right Or Wrong, Time Will Tell’- Dinesh Karthik

Indian Cricket Team won the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh in a grand fashion as they avoided a whitewash. Indian players didn’t give any freebies this time as they made batters work hard for every run. The skipper KL Rahul was spot on with his captaincy as he rotated the bowlers quite smartly.

The problem with the Bangladeshi Tigers was that none of the batters took the responsibility of taking the team closer to the target. Shakib al Hasan showed some fight as the batter scored 43 runs but he couldn’t get any support from the rest of the batters.

Dinesh Karthik On KL Rahul

Dinesh Karthik was having an interaction with Cricbuzz and was asked about KL Rahul. “I think from the mindset of team India, they’re trying to get the best out of KL Rahul. Otherwise, Rahul would’ve opened in the last game when Rohit got injured. They want him to bat at 5 and get more experience there.” said Dinesh Karthik.

“I know he (Ishan Kishan ) could’ve filled in this game, but they’re looking at him as a keeper in the World Cup so far; whether it is right or not, time will tell. At this moment, he looks like the keeper so he will keep doing that for sure,” he added.

Conundrum for Management

The management has got some happy head-aches as there are a lot of wicket-keepers competing for a spot. It looks unlikely that Ishan Kishan will get the nod over KL Rahul & Rishabh Pant. The management has to take some tough calls as the way Shikhar Dhawan is batting, it’s doing no good to the team.

With less than one 1 year left for ICC Cricket World Cup, the selection panel needs to find the ideal combination as chopping and changing won’t work all the time. India hasn’t won Cricket World Cup since 2011 and would be keen to end the drought of 12 years.
