Sri Lankan Cricket Team is all set to play the 3rd ODI on Sunday (15th January). For India, this is a dead rubber having already sealed the ODI series quite convincingly. Many Cricket experts raised their voices when Ishan Kishan & Suryakumar Yadav were ignored in the playing 11 after having a terrific T20I Series.

Sri Lanka had shown promise in the 2nd ODI, but the lack of runs hurt them. They need someone who could play long & effective innings rather than just getting a start. The island nation perhaps should open with Kusal Mendis, as the right-handed batter has got a wide range of shots.

Vikram Rathour was seen attending the press conference ahead of 3rd ODI and was asked about Ishan Kishan & Suryakumar Yadav. “They are not really forced. The others are doing well as well. There is nobody doing badly. As players, they have this understanding that somebody else is doing well. They’ll need to wait for the opportunity. They are preparing for that. They are working and training hard. Whenever the opportunity comes, hopefully they will do well and hold on to their places.” said Vikram Rathour.

Vikram Rathour on Ishan Kishan

Vikram Rathour was asked what’s the role of Ishan Kishan in the team. said Vikram Rathour. “At the moment, he has been picked in the team as an opener. But again, as a batting unit, we are pretty flexible and if the management feels there is a need for us to try somebody like Ishan in the middle-order, we might.” said Vikram Rathour.

“He has great potential. He has been in great form lately in T20Is. It’s great to have him in the reserves. Hopefully, when the opportunity comes, he will take that opportunity and do well for the team. It’s great to have such versatile players in the team.” he added.
