The series decider clash of the three-match T20I series between the Hardik Pandya-led India National Cricket Team and the Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka National Cricket Team was held at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Saturday, January 7.
India National Cricket Team continued their dominance at home and defeated Sri Lanka National Cricket Team by 91 runs in the third T20I to seal the series victory 2-1. Notably, India won the nail-biting series opener by 2 runs and Sri Lanka won the thrilling second game by 16 runs. Earlier, India National Cricket Team won the toss, elected to bat first in the match and made no changes to the playing XI. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, dropped Bhanuka Rajapaksa after his string of poor performances and replaced him with Avishka Fernando in the playing XI.
Dilshan Madushanka opened the attack for Sri Lanka and provided his side with a breakthrough in the first over itself by dismissing Ishan Kishan for 1. Kasun Rajitha bowled two good overs in the powerplay, with one being a maiden over and in the remaining three overs Tripathi and Gill fired and registered 12, 14 and 15 runs together.

Rahul Tripathi played a wonderful knock as he scored 35 runs off 16 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes, before being cleaned up by Chamika Karunaratne. At the end of the powerplay, India were at 53/2.
Then, Suryakumar Yadav, the No.1 ranked T20I batter, came out to bat and played his natural fearless game to help India reach 100 runs mark in 10.4 overs.
Gill and Suryakumar stitched together remarkable 111 runs in 53 balls, before Wanindu Hasaranga broke the partnership by dismissing Gill in the 15th over. The Punjab-born batter scored 46 runs off 36 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes, before being dismissed by the premier leg-spinner.
Hardik Pandya and Deepak Hooda got out cheaply as they contributed just 4 runs each. However, the World No.1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav stood strong on one end and Axar Patel provided him with great support.

Suryakumar Yadav showcased unreal hitting and played an extraordinary knock in the match, smashing the Lankan bowlers all over the park. He notched up his third T20I century off 45 balls, including 6 fours and 8 sixes.
Overall, Suryakumar smashed unbeaten 112 runs off 51 balls, including 7 fours and 9 sixes, and Axar Patel slammed 21* runs off 9 balls, including 4 fours, to help India post 228/5 on the board in 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Kusal Mendis provided his side with a much-needed strong start. However, he fell for 23 in the 5th over, which was bowled by Axar Patel. In the very next over, Arshdeep Singh dismissed Pathum Nissanka for 15 and at the end of the powerplay, Sri Lanka were at 51/2.
Then, Sri Lanka just couldn’t get going and they lost wickets at regular intervals to get bundled out for 137 in 16.4 overs to lose their 6th consecutive T20I series in India. Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets while Umran Malik, Yuzvendra and Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets each and Axar Patel bagged one wicket.
