On Day 2 of the second Test, Babar and Imam were building together a promising partnership after the dismissals of Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood. However, they only managed to stitch up a 43-run partnership in 80 balls as Babar comically got run out while trying to go for the third run.

On the second ball of the 25th over, Michael Bracewell bowled a quicker delivery onto the pads and Imam played it through mid-wicket. Babar and Imam took two runs easily, but the former was keen for the third.

Imam called for the third but then stopped running and returned to his crease while Babar was already 3/4th down the track and both the batters ended up being at the striker’s end. Nicholls was sharp on the field as he quickly threw the ball to Bracewell, who whipped off the non-striker’s bails to send back Babar. Also, Pakistan batters exchanged a few words after the run-out.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss, opted to bat first and posted a humongous total of 449 on the board. Opener Devon Conway smashed a terrific ton while Tom Latham, Tom Blundell and Matt Henry registered brilliant half-centuries to help New Zealand reach the total.
