“Women’s IPL Will Be The Next Frontier For Women’s Game”- Ellyse Perry

[ad_1]

The inaugural edition of Women’s IPL is assumed to be the next big thing for Indian Cricket. The Women in Blue have been failing to win crunch moments of the tournament. Women’s IPL is set to be played in March 2023 after the conclusion of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.

BCCI is yet to finalize the teams; as it would be interesting to see whether Women’s IPL attracts viewers and spectators.  BCCI surprisingly has allowed 5 overseas players in the playing 11. BCCI would be hoping that Indian players get used to the pressure situations.

Ellyse Perry On Women’s IPL 2023

Ellyse Perry was having an interaction with the media after the 4th T20I match against India and was asked about the Women’s IPL. “Never seen the crowd pull out their mobiles and turn on the flashlights and support a team like they did in the Indian innings. For me that’s just amazing. The IPL is going to be amazing, tremendously,” said Ellyse Perry.

“(Women’s IPL will be) next frontier for the women’s game. We’ve seen what the WBBL has done for women’s cricket in Australia, the Hundred in England and the next step is the women’s IPL in what is the spiritual home of cricket,” she added.

Great Chance for India

As mentioned by Ellyse Perry, the game of Cricket would evolve with the inception of IPL just the same way Men’s IPL has done. It would be interesting to see at what venues, the matches would be played as that would be a key factor as how the tournament pans out.

The ongoing T20I Series between India & Australia have been quite fascinating where there has been even a contest between bat and ball. Australia Women has benefited a lot since Big Bash League as they have got a pool of quality players present who could thrive in any situations.
