Bitesize Prediction: Perth Glory vs Wellington Phoenix – 23/12/22

Competition: A-League

Market: Wellington Phoenix double chance

Odds: 8/15 @ 888sport

Looking to make it back-to-back A-League victories on Friday morning, Wellington will make the trip to a struggling Perth when this weekend’s fixtures get underway.

Starting with the hosts, while Perth might have finally managed to pick up a much-needed boost against Western United on December 10th, it appears that was nothing more than a minor positive note for the A-League strugglers. Making an immediate return to losing ways last weekend as they were hit with a toothless 1-0 loss away at Macarthur, Ruben Zadkovich’s men are at the heart of another nightmare domestic campaign. Lifting the wooden spoon last season and once again sat rock-bottom of the A-League standings this time around, the Purples have taken just six points from their opening eight top-flight showdowns. With their extended issues highlighted by a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Melbourne City last month, Perth are also yet to record a single clean sheet since opening up the new season. Hit with a 1-0 loss when they last faced off against Wellington back in April, Zadkovich’s side could face a tough test.

As for the visitors, while Wellington might have struggled with their consistency since opening the 2022/23 campaign, Ufuk Talay’s men were last seen putting in an eye-catching display on home soil. Eventually cruising their way to a 3-1 victory against Adelaide, the Phoenix will be desperate to lay down another marker here. Losing just one of their last five A-League outings, the one-time Sydney coach should be smelling a real chance this weekend. Finding a route into the top-half of the standings, Wellington should also be boosted by a rampant record against Friday’s hosts. In fact, including that 1-0 win when they last faced off against Perth back on April 13th, Talay’s side have picked up 13 points from their previous five meetings against the A-League strugglers. Looking to grab back-to-back top-flight wins for the first time since August, we’re backing an away double chance here.

Bet: Wellington Phoenix double chance against Perth Glory 8/15 for Friday’s A-League battle @ 888sport
