Bitesize Prediction: Spezia vs Atalanta – 04/01/23

[ad_1]

Competition: Serie A

Market: Atalanta win

Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport

Hoping to mark their Serie A return with a flurry on the road, Atalanta will make the trip to Spezia on Wednesday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, managing to find a much-needed boost when heading into the World Cup break thanks to a 2-1 victory away at Verona, Spezia will be desperate to prove that was more than just a minor blip. However, although Luca Gotti’s side might have clung to their Serie A status last season, it appears that the Little Eagles are destined for another bottom-three scrap in 2023. Firmly looking over their shoulder at the drop zone and knowing that they should face a tough test here, Spezia have claimed just a sole win from any of their last eight top-flight contests. Likewise, on a run that is highlighted by a 2-1 defeat against Fironetina back on October 30th, it should be noted that Wednesday’s hosts have recorded just one victory from their previous six Serie A battles at the Stadio Alberto Picco – a run that stems back to the middle of August.

As for the visitors, heading into the World Cup break in the midst of what was a nightmare run of form, Atalanta will be desperate to pick up a Serie A boost on Wednesday afternoon. Losing four of their final five top-flight contests prior to the World Cup interval, La Dea will be looking to prove that was just a minor blip. With their sights set on claiming a Champions League return in 2023, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men should at least be excited by a rampant record against Spezia. Storming their way to a 3-1 romp when they made the trip to the Stadio Alberto Picco back on May 8th, Atalanta are unbeaten in all five of their showdowns against the relegation contenders. In fact, mustering 11 strikes in just their previous three meetings, the Italian giants should be smelling a chance here.

Bet: Atalanta 7/10 to beat Spezia in Wednesday’s Serie A contest @ 888sport
