Enzo Fernandez signs for Chelsea in British record deal

Chelsea have completed the long-awaited signing of Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

The biggest deal of the January window will see Chelsea break the British transfer record to land the 22-year-old, who is has set the Blues back €121m according to a statement released by Benfica on their official website

Fernandez has signed an eight-and-a-half year contract at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea also retaining the option to extend that deal by a further season as well.

Fernandez is the final signing of what has been a record-breaking winter window for Chelsea, who have brought in no fewer than eight new signings.

Chelsea have signed Benoit Badiashile, Datro Fofana, Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, Andrey Santos and Malo Gusto, the latter of whom has returned to Lyon on a six-month loan, while they have also welcomed goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina back from his loan with Chicago Fire.
