Aston Villa and Arsenal each play their final match before the WSL winter break on Sunday as the pair go head to head at Villa Park.

The Gunners have dealt well with their recent injury problems, and can head into the break within touching distance of league leaders Chelsea with victory on Sunday.

They face a Villa side who have won both of their matches at Villa Park this term, but were comprehensively beaten by Manchester United in their most recent league outing last weekend, and have injury concerns of their own to contend with.

When is kick off? Sunday 11 December, 16:15 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Villa Park
TV channel/live stream? Sky Sports Main Event/Football/Premier League (UK) FA Player (international)
What time does UK coverage start? 15:30 (GMT)
Referee? Paul Howard

Aston Villa currently have a number of long term injury absentees, and could only name four subs at Old Trafford on Saturday. Remi Allen, Simone Magill and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah are all sidelined with ACL injuries, while Tash Harding is out with a ruptured quad tendon. Freya Gregory also picked up an injury against Sheffield United in the Conti Cup in midweek.

Villa do have Kirsty Hanson available for a WSL fixture once more, after she sat out against Manchester United as she was ineligible to play against her parent club. The Scotland winger scored on her return to the team in the Conti Cup n Wednesday.

Arsenal will be without Beth Mead for many more months after the forward ruptured her ACL in November. Kim Little remains sidelined with a knee injury sustained at the end of October and Lina Hurtig also still misses out. Jonas Eidevall is hopeful the pair can return before Christmas.

Villa have been really competitive this term after their summer of smart recruitment, beating Manchester City on the opening day of the campaign and giving Chelsea a good game in October. However, their loss to United last time out was surprisingly emphatic.

It’s been a case of creating a lot of chances but not necessarily being as clinical as they would like for Arsenal in recent weeks. If they can get three points on Sunday and also ensure successful passage through to the Champions League quarter-finals next week, then they will have navigated this busy period with injuries exceptionally well.

Prediction: Aston Villa 0-2 Arsenal
