Yep, that's Alanis singing the 'Yellowjackets' theme this week

A figure stands silhouetted.

If you’re watching this week’s Yellowjackets and scouring the credits for clues, you may notice the searing theme song “No Return” sounds a little different this week. Your ears do not deceive you — that’s Alanis Morrissette snarling her way through those creepy verses.

It’s a glorious get for the show, which is already stacked with ’90s icons like Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey and Juliette Lewis.

“It was a little daunting to be asked to reinterpret [the song] but I see parallels between YELLOWJACKETS and my perspective while songwriting: the sheer intensity, that going for the jugular with no fear around going for the profane,” said Morrissette in a statement, describing “No Return” as “a perfect song”.

“No Return” and the score for the show are written by Anna Waronker and Craig Wedren — the latter was not only the frontman and principal songwriter of 90s alt band Shudder To Think, but also created the original score and music for Wet Hot American Summer, among other films and shows.

Yellowjackets Season 2 is streaming on Showtime, with new episodes streaming weekly on Fridays. Episodes also air every Sunday on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET.
